DSA Drama Day is open to anyone in Grades 3-6.  You do not need to be a DSA theatre major or DSA student to attend. This is a great way to get to know the DSA Theatre staff and get a feel for our programs.   It is Saturday Dec. 14, 2013.  Registration begins at 8:30AM, first workshop begins at 9AM.  Last workshop ends at 3:15PM. 

Juniors and seniors of the DSA Theatre Major will teach all workshops. An adult chaperone is present in all workshops.  Scholarships are available upon need request.

Lunch is not provided.  Concessions and pizza will be for sale.

Cost is $45

10:00-10:50    Workshop 2   Playwrighting/ Physical Acting/ Musical Theatre (dance)/Technical Theatre-Costumes/ Monologue Coaching*

11:00-11:50     Workshop3   Makeup/ Dialects / Shakespeare/Pantomime/ Monologue Coaching*

11:50-12:20    LUNCH

12:30-1:20    Workshop 4  Stage Combat /Duet Scene- Coaching*/Vocal Master Class*/Makeup/Monologue Coaching*

1:20-2:10    Workshop 5  Pantomime/ Playwrighting/ Clowning/Improv/ Monologue Coaching*

2:20-3:10     Workshop 6   Physical Acting/ Hip Hop/ Shakespeare/Improv/ Musical Theatre (Dance)/ Monologue Coaching*

Workshops will consist of topics/classes in the following areas:  Hip hop dance (students will learn basic steps and put together for a shortdance sequence), Musical Theatre(students will learn 16 bars of a dance that would replicate an audition for a musical), Stage Combat (studentswill learn basic slaps, hits, falls that are used onstage), Improv (students will explore and play several improv games – learn these and bring them back to your own drama club), Playwriting (students will explore the ease of free writing to multiple prompts and howeasy that could be in creating a new play), Monologue—Mock Auditions (students need to bring a PREPARED monologue to this workshop and get feedback by students on their performance).  Physical Acting (students could use a prepared monologue for this workshop—will work on building a character through leading centers, postures, walk, sitting), Makeup (students will learn fundamentals of stage makeup and how to make realistic bruises), Dialects (students will explore New York, British, and Irish dialects), Shakespeare (an intro to interpreting/acting the Bard’s text), Vocal Master Class (students must bring a PREPARED song with sheet music—students will sing their song and get feedback), Technical Theatre (students will explore tech with basic introduction to costumes), Duet Scene Coaching (prepared scenes will be critiqued), Monologue Coaching (one-on-one coaching on a prepared and memorized monologue).

 
Students may register with or without a school/teacher.  To do so, please send NAME, Grade, phone number, School name, Emergency contact for the day, vegetarian or not, and a check for $45 to Denver School of the Arts, Attn. Shawn Hann,7111 Montview Blvd. Denver, CO 80220.

Please turn this in at the all troupe meeting on November 30th. If you do not turn in a lesson plan you wont be allowed to teach the workshop and will not be included in the fundraiser.
