Ok, well hello to all. This is your intermediate historian, Everett. This is my first of many blogs. I'm not sure exactly what to say so I will just talk about my Summer so far. I had a very busy Summer and things are now starting to slow down. First, I took a vacation. I came back for about a week then left to Maryland/D.C./Virginia for National History Day. It was such an awesome trip. I went to many cool museums and learned a whole bunch of stuff! The day I left for the trip, my family, back here, went to go get our new puppy. So I was real excited to come back and meet this little guy. Since I wasn't there to get him, they went with the name I wanted for our first dog, which was Buster. So I got back from that trip and got to spend three days with Buster before I left for Nebraska.

Now Nebraska, was THE trip of all trips. Normally when I tell people that I went to Nebraska and had an awesome time, they give me a weird face. That's only because they don't realize it was with a whole bunch of thespians! The thespian convention is in Nebraska to bring some life into that place. Anyway, if you have not been to national thespian convention yet, GO. Do what you need to to make it there. There was so much happening and the other people you meet are so great. Everyone is very talented and nice and just cool to talk to. We also got to see some very...interesting shows. There were a few really great shows, and then there were some that had their downfalls. I will not name them but I'm sure you all heard about them... Also, what was really great was the bonding. I got a whole lot closer to some real awesome seniors which will be gone after the Summer. So it was great getting to know them before they're off. A REALLY great bonding experience was the band (I'm sure you're all familiar with by now) Clusterfolk. If you're not familiar, then I'll explain (because I love to) So Alex B. brought his mandolin, Zach brought his harmonicas (harps), Alexander, Ethan, and I brought guitars, and others who joined in bought little instruments and stuff at a local music shop. One night, a bunch of us were jammin' in the dorms. Spencer W. and Gage started hitting trash bins for the beat, Austin taped two spoons, and we liked what we heard. We decided to make a band (Clusterfolk) and play outside the dances every night. Soon, Spencer and Gage upgraded to $3 FedEx boxes, Stefan, Sam VW., and Samie were a part of (Clusterfolk) and we had created a crowd of fans. It was one of the greatest experiences for us all. Anyway, we came back to Colorado, lost a few members, worked on original music, and we are now in the Spare Parts Battle of the Bands playing at the Gothic July 31st. I switched over to a bass guitar and I love it. I picked it up VERY quickly and am loving it! I will never forget Clusterfolk or the amazing seniors and other band members when they are all gone. It's sad to think about but we'll keep in touch. I hope when I'm a senior, I'm able to leave such a big impact on someone like they did on me.

Alright so I got home and a few days after arriving in Colorado, I went into the process of Robin Hood! This was over at the Newman Center next to DCPA. The show was directed by the very well known Allison Watrous! She is the most inspiring and creative director. Robin Hood was modernized, sort of into our society with the taxes and all. It was only a three week process, but an amazing three weeks. I became very close with cast members and they were all very accepting of one another. The role I played was Will Scarlett, which if you didn't know, is Robin Hood best friend. The guy who played Robin Hood and I actually did become great friends. So if you're interested in doing a Summer play, I highly recommend this camp. Allison does it every Summer. So give her a call! It's a great learning experience, especially since you"re working with Allison, and you meet talented, awesome kids. If you're nervous about meeting other people, don't worry. Chances are, you'll run into someone you know. Which is what happened with me. Mitchell L. was in the show with me and I had no idea he would be there!

After the show finished, I have been working on Summer work. Yipeeeee! I have a lot of reading to do and work to do. So far, I have read The Crucible by Arthur Miller and All My Sons also by Arthur Miller. If you have not started working on Stanislavski, START. To all the new kids or the soon-to-be-freshman, DO NOT PUT IT ASIDE. DO IT. It is extremely important for your career as a performer. If you put it aside, you will be focused on getting through it in time, instead of actually reading it and focusing on what he is saying. It is really great stuff. Just get working on it now because when school starts, you will be overwhelmed.

So for all the freshman who are nervous about what next year will be like in theatre, relax. You've probably heard many things, "Freshman year is the worst." "Freshman year was the best!" It is what you make of it. Not other people's opinions. Just stay focused, keep your chin up, and relax! If you have questions about freshman year and anything else, don't wait to contact me. I will do my best to prepare you. I CAN tell you this. High school IS different from middle school. Not in a good way nor a bad way. It is just different. But it's better than leaving and going to another high school. You are still at DSA and you know that this school rocks. You know the people here and you'll be fine!

Well I guess that concludes this blog. Ok.
