State: Should I go?

Hey all,
Samie here, sorry this post is up later than I said it would be, but it's here now!
If you look on the tabs bar, one is called "State 2011" there you will find all the master forms and the theatre handbook which contains the excursion forms and info on all of the technical info.
Now if you're unsure if you want to go to State this year: here are a few more details about what it's like.
You arrive after school on Thursday. That night you will check into the hotel, go out downtown for dinner on your own, and then come to the convention center and see a main stage show. There are two main stage shows every year. They are high school shows that went up in the fall that were adjudicated and selected as one of two to perform at State.
The next friday and Saturday you can take workshop classes that are each about 90 minutes long. These range from lighting design to Sexy salsa, to the director's toolbox, to yoga and many, many more. The workshop classes are taught by some amazing people who are working professionals from all around the country. They are most definitely very valuable. Some of my favorite workshops have been: Seven Secrets of the Working Actor, and Swing Dancing.
If you bring an IE, you will have five minutes (no more, you will get cut off) to get up on a stage in a conference room and perform your piece. There will be three judges who rank you on a scale of fair, good, excellent, or superior. If you get two or more superiors, you qualify to take your IE to National Thespian Convention in June. There are also a few IEs that are selected to perform at the Main Stage showcase at the end of the convention.
The convention closes with a Main stage showcase where some IEs are featured and there is a video that wraps up the Thespian Conference that year. Then you get to go home and enjoy the rest of your weekend.
So, if you still have questions about State, feel free to email me at samie.a.johnson@gmail.com
