Hello People of Thespis! 

This is a post from moi, Julia, la Secretaire (that is French for "me, Julia, the Secretary"). 
I cannot believe that it is the first week of August already. Summer seemed to go by so fast, and as of today, I am in rehearsals for 42nd Street, the All School Musical at DSA, premiering this September (more info about that experience to come)! 
Although we might still be dazed and sleepy from the hot summer days spent at the pool, the first day of school is quickly approaching... Therefore, I decided that I should post another informative blog- this time about what the Thespian Officers planned over the summer, and how we are going to achieve our goals for the 2012-2013 school year.
 
While there will be posts regarding theatre major-oriented events, this blog relates to the Troupe as an entity. 

In early June, the entire board gathered together on a weekend retreat to map out the 2012-2013 school year, and we conversed about and finalized dates for ALL Thespian Events, including the dates listed below:

  • Ice Cream Fundraiser (September 5th) 
  • New Thespian Meeting (September 5th)
  • All Troupe Meetings (the first scheduled meeting is on September 12th!)
  • Fall Cabaret (October 5th ) Spring Cabaret (April 19th) and their themes
  • Thespian Inductions (November 5th)
  • Striving for a Thespian Bowling Night (November 16th)
  • Middle School Theatre Day (December 1st)
  • Fee deadlines (more specifics about that later)
  • State Convention (December 6-8th)
  • National Convention (June TBA)
  • Collaborating with the Junior Thespian Troupe
  • Officer representatives from other majors and how they will work closely with the current Officer Board and spread the word about the Troupe to their specific art form.
  • Laser Tag (May 4th)
  • Opportunities to see other school's shows (group discount tickets)
  • Main stage dates/Class productions
  • Thespian T-Shirt Designs :) 
  • Wednesday Thespian Announcements 
We also discussed how the Officer Board members, as well as the entire Thespian Troupe, are going to spread the word to convince people to join the Thespian society; also accomplish goals we feel are most important to the health and vitality of the group. Our objectives to strive for in the Troupe include three simple, but powerful, key words: Unity, Organization, and Enthusiasm. The Officers believe that we can make this the best in the Troupe's history, regarding performance opportunities, get-togethers/fundraisers, communication, and building friendships. 

So as we enter into school, let us develop positive, energetic, and dedicated mindsets, and look forward to all the great opportunities coming our way.
