Getting Ready for the New School Year!!

Hello everyone! This is your new secretary Samie Johnson!
I'd just like to start out by saying how excited I am for this upcoming year. There is going to be a lot of change and I know that it can be scary. But this truly is a time for us to grow and I think we can accomplish some pretty amazing things this year.
Now as your secretary I am going to work really hard to keep all of you well informed. There is currently a calendar located on the home page, this will be kept updated throughout the year so you can always know when due dates, auditions, etc. are coming up. We as officers will also be using the thespian bulletin board this year! It's location is still up in the air, but wherever it is, it will include previews of upcoming productions and I will also be posting the minutes of our officer meetings. In other words, I will post exactly what we're discussing at our meetings. Also, (though you've probably already figured this out) the Thespian Officer Blogs are up and running, and will be throughout the year.
Since I plan on telling you all what the officers talk about throughout the year, I'll start with a summary of the officer retreat. Since this was an all-day (and a lot of the night) endeavor, I won't quote word for word, but I'll give you an idea of what we talked about.
~As officers, we discussed good leadership skills and how we would be good leaders ourselves
~We talked a lot about the changes that are coming this year, and what they will bring. We've decided that change is inevitable and what we need to do is embrace it with positive attitudes, professionalism, and integrity. We also dove into planning the logistics of the changes and how we were going to handle them.
~We had a brief Skype conversation with our new theatre teacher, Mr. Becker. He is really great, I know a new teacher is, well, new but I'm sure he will be great for out department. I can't wait to actually meet him!
~We planned out the calendar and worked through events, deadlines, etc. Our cabarets in particular have lots of ideas! We have some crazy theme ideas! The cabarets are going to be all out this year and super fun! So mark the date right now!! (It's on that calendar!)
~We really did a lot of detailed discussing about what we can do to improve our department and we have seen that this year filled with so many changes is really going to be the perfect time to move forward! This year, we're going to usher in a new era filled with positive attitudes, professionalism, dedication, integrity, consistency, and all sorts of other good stuff!
