Avenue Q........ what up with that?

Posted by Shawn Hann on Friday, January 11, 2013, In : Outreach Officer
Ok so here is the thing. Avenue Q is such a weird show. Amazing, but so incredibly weird. It is a show with actors onstage carrying around puppets. Huh? The first time I saw the show I spent countless minutes before questioning and hypothesizing how I was going to watch and enjoy the show. Will I watch the puppetts? the puppeteers? who is really the character? who will be acting? But somehow this wonderful show manages to do it flawlessly. The audience is able to bounce their eyes betw...

Posted by Shawn Hann on Saturday, July 7, 2012, In : Outreach Officer
Hey guys!

This was my second time at National Thespian Convention; However, each time I have been it is a totally different experience. Both times have been super fun!
The trip started on June 25th when we departed from the DSA parking lot at 4 am. No no you did not read that wrong. The 30 or so pe...

Spring Posting

Posted by Jake Everhart on Thursday, March 8, 2012, In : Outreach Officer
Greetings! This is your friendly neighborhood Outreach Officer, Jake. Just blogging to let you all know about our events this spring. Shakespeare is in the air, and the Juniors have started Too Much Light!!! WOO that'll be exciting and I can't even phrase my own excitement. Anyway, our Miscast/Original Work Crabaret was a great hit, and we poured copious amounts of goo on Landon Du and Jimmy Bru(enger). We have a lot more events coming your way this spring, like Thespian Laser Tag Part 2, and...

Maltz's New Shenanigans

Posted by Ryan Maltz on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, In : Outreach Officer
GREETINGS!!!

It is I! Ryan Dean Maltz. Speaking of which, I'm thinking of possibly having my name at graduation pronounced Ryan Dean Maltz the First or Ryan Dean Maltz Esquire or Ryan Dean Maltz Jr. Esquire the Third... I can hear Thornton saying it out loud already

But that's besides the point. As I sit here on my green striped white couch with my Dell Latitude D810 on my lap, which is currently overheating and burning my upper thighs, I am typing up this blog...yeah...

The 2000 Panasonic TV in...

Posted by Jake Everhart on Sunday, December 11, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
Hello Thespians, this is Outreach Jake. I just got back from State Thespian Convention 2011! And you might have too! To recap, it was a very successful conference for DSA. We had 5 (count 'em) FIVE Critic's Choice Mainstage performances. So congrats Terra, Ethan, Sam, Carson, Amanda, Everett and Andie! You guys all kicked the butt of the mainstageness. Also Soda and Stefan both won the Critic's Choice Scholarship, and Ethan and Ryan got cast in next year's All-State Show! This is an informal ...

Posted by Ryan Maltz on Friday, November 25, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
Hi there...

Thanksgiving is now over!!!

A time to go shopping, drink hot chocolate, and dance around naked in the snow, wearing nothing but a Santa thong...(at least that's a tradition in the Maltz family)

Posted by Ryan Maltz on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
Hey.....

It's me....

Maltz...

I'm here to discuss with all you gorgeous people the Main Stage show auditions from the point of view of me.....it would only seem to make sense as I am the writer/author/producer/generator of this electronic blog/article/crappy piece of writing...

So where do I begin....

How about with Wintertime as it was the first one I auditioned for...

I took a huge risk with this audition, because for my 1 minute comedic monologue, I actually did an original piece I wrote my Fres...

The Legs Have Been Waxed (Cabaret)

Posted by Jake Everhart on Tuesday, November 15, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
Hello all, Outreach Jake here. As you probably know, we hosted Thespian Cabaret last Wednesday night. It was, as usual, successful, but it could be even more so. If you didn't sign up or didn't know what to do for Cabaret, audition for the next one. JUST DO IT (like Nike). Do a scene, write a song, whatever floats your boat! As someone who always brushed off Cabaret, I can personally say that it is not a big deal, and is just plain fun.
Congratulations to all who did perform. It was a very v...

The All School Mu:2

Posted by Jake Everhart on Tuesday, September 27, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
See how I rhymed the title? Hello fellow Thespians! Outreach Officer Jake, here. Just wanted to do a quick post on The All School musical that closed 2 weekends ago: The Pajama Game! From an insider point of view, I just want to say that it was a very busy, exciting experience that I learned so much from. I grew a lot individually from the entire production, and our cast really learned to support each other as an ensemble. The show ended with the school in high spirits, and a new legacy to ad...

Posted by Ryan Dean Maltz on Saturday, July 9, 2011, In : Outreach Officer
Hello my mighty Starmites!
It's me...Ryan...your officer who likes to reach out to others...
As I sat in my comfortable seat inside of TGI Fridays at Northfield drinking my Arnold Palmer, the lovely Shawn Hann reminded us, officers, about our duty of blogging...so...here I am...

I came to blog my rather...interesting side of the 2011 National Thespian Conference, which most of thespians did not receive, because they are, well, normal...

I expected Nationals for me to be rather boring and kind of...

Hey Hey Hey it's your outreach officer Mei Mei Mei! Well, welcome back to school you crazy fool! Has it not been the most fun ever? I have to say the lock-in was just a pre-curser to the awesome times this year have in store. BTW- the lock-in, let's chat that up:

New Year+ New Teachers+ New room= Excitement

Posted by Shawn Hann on Monday, June 7, 2010, In : Outreach Officer
Hey! This is your outreach officer Mei Mei. If you have already read some of the below posts, you are aware of the changes coming up in the upcoming year. Change is scary, but trust me, trust all of us, it's going to be positive change. The new room (which is TBD) is going to have more space than Moss's. Moss is going to explore and grow in the creative writing department and we are going to explore and grow with our new theatre teacher Mr.Becker. We talked to Mr.Becker and I have to say, he'...
